If
you are convicted of Driving While Intoxicated or Aggravated
Driving
While Intoxicated, a condition of your sentence may be that you
enroll in and complete the Stop DWI Program. Stop DWI is a short-term alcohol out-patient treatment program designed to discourage drivers from drinking and driving. An initial evaluation assesses the participant’s level of alcohol use and the program involves group counseling, individual counseling and psycho-educational groups. Stop DWI groups meet twice a week for three to four months. The programs are usually administered through a local hospital center. Participants are required to attend self-help recovery groups and submit to random urine drug screening and breathalyzer testing. Stop DWI is considered to be a very vigorous program that is difficult to complete. It can also run participant nearly four thousand dollars in additional fees payable to the program. If you have a New York DWI / DUI case, you need to speak with a qualified attorney if you are recommended for the Stop DWI Program. At the Law Offices of Adam D. Perlmutter, P.C., we can often develop alternative program arrangements and recommendations that will meet provide a superior level of treatment but at a lower cost and in a better environment. |
