In New York, if you are convicted of either DWI or DWAI and it is your first alcohol-related arrest, you will be eligible to participate in the New York State Drinking Driver Program (DDP). The program is administered by the Department of Motor Vehicles but taught by independent program providers. The DDP program consists of approximately fifteen classroom hours over seven weeks.
